Sagakei

Alongside Yabakei in Oita Prefecture and Geibikei in Iwate Prefecture, Sagakei is one Japan’s three great gorges. With an area of about 2 km, it is situated on a peninsula jutting out from the southernmost tip of Miyato Island. The cliffs, eroded over a long period of time by rough waves and storms, are a true wonder of nature. You can take a sightseeing boat to get an up-close look at the rugged rock faces, which are a stark contrast with Matsushima Bay.
